Daemen College Visual Effects (VFX) Certificate Program

Students participate in the new program at Daemen College

About the Program

Daemen College aims to create a pipeline for this growing post production industry through its Visual Effects Certificate Program—the first of its kind in New York State. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have the skills needed to access jobs at post production companies, which serve major film and television studios across the country.

Students spend a year earning their certificate while working in a world-class, post-production visual effects training facility. The state-of-the-art  software, hardware, and computers are all part of the State's investment.

The program is a prime example of how Western New York’s colleges and universities are collaborating with the business community to foster entrepreneurship in exciting new industries, provide new opportunities for students, and attract new companies to locate in Buffalo.

Fostering Academic and Industry Partnerships

In July 2013, Governor Cuomo announced a $4.5 million state investment designed to create a visual effects industry in Buffalo.  The investment provided the equipment to helped create a program at Daemen College to teach visual effects for post-production work in the film industry.
